BML Creative is now a DoFollow website

14 January 2011
BY BML Creative

After some careful discussions in house, we’ve finally decided to turn the BML Creative website into a DO FOLLOW blog.

This means that we’ve removed the rel=”nofollow” attribute that has previously been added automatically to all comments made on our site. Users will therefore get the full search engine benefits from any links added to our blog comments.

The aim of this it to encourage a greater number of comments from site visitors on articles and work that we publish. If you want to make a comment on any article or project in our portfolio, we would actively encourage you to do so. However, we would ask that you take the time to read the article or investigate the project carefully before adding something relevant and useful to the discussion.

Remember, it’s not just the blog section where you can post DoFollow comments. You can also post comments on any project in our design portfolio, so please take the time to browse through our creative work and add your thoughts.

We will still be moderating all comments and will remove any content or links that we feel are spam or are of insufficient quality to merit a post. We will not allow links back to adult, gambling or illegal sites, so save yourself the time and don’t bother. DO NOT SPAM US!

We have also introduced the KeywordLuv, so if you want to use a keyword link back to your own site then please use YourName @ Your Key Words in the name field and your post will be automatically be formatted. Comments that only use keywords in the name field will be removed, as we feel this is a barrier to useful discussion amongst contributors.

If you find our website useful then please link back to us!

Thanks, and happy blogging!

The BML team.

I think this is a great choice. You will find that it will spur good conversation on your blog postings since folks with something good will say will then have a good reason to say it: link juice.

Looking forward to the great discussions.

That’s excellent news. Here’s hoping people’s comments further enrich your blog.

This is great for a blog, more comments leads to more interaction, more interactions add to the content and more content means more keywords, and google is really good with indexing comments, they are valuable to google! Grt step

Thanks for making your blog do follow. Though there are some disadvantages in a do follow blog, there are a lot of advantages and benefits though. Do follow blogs drive more traffic than those blogs that are no follow.

I have been reading about how many websites are turning to dofollow to increase comments and traffic. I may need to consider this for my blog.

Does giving out links on a blog hurt it in anyway?

Hi Betsey – Jeet is absolutely right, there are plus and minus points. It does encourage discussion, but it needs careful monitoring and you DEFINITELY want to have Askimet or another spam filter active.

Good for you guys! Like the above poster mentioned, there are some pitfalls to being a DF blog, but one big benefit of dofollow blogs is that it will attract a lot of internet marketers, and at the end of the day, these are part of your demographic.

Cheers, and look forward to contributing!

You should also think of using keywordluv. I hate responding to ‘setting goals’ or ‘used machine centers’ :D I would rather respond to Betsey. :)

@Betsey: Turning your blog into dofollow gets you extra traffic and ‘sometimes links’. But you must ensure the blog has akismet or other spam protection plugin because you also get tonnes of spam (and genuine) spam.

Thanks, Jeet. We have taken your advice and added the KeywordLuv facility onto the site!

Personally I think all blogs must become do-follow! Reason is blogs could get more traffic to their blogs. Anyway thanks for the decision! Hope people can enrich your blog by commenting!!! :)

You have made a good a good decision. It is a very good example to other blogs and a good opportunity to encourage people to leave comments.

Having a dofollow blog is very rewarding as it makes people want to contribute more and everyone wins! With the keywordluv plugin I think it is important to moderate all comments or install a spam filter as we don’t want the spammers ruining it for the rest of us!

    • David Holloway says:
      24/01/2011 at 16:58

Very true, Bob. Just wish there was some way to have an automatic filter for illiterate and/or stupid people ;) Ah well, I guess that’s why they call it comment moderation!

You guys are very creative, and thanks for making your blog do follow. I browsed the design portfolio. Amazing – you did a great job. I suggest you should install Akismet to interfere spam on the web. I hope you will keep improving your site and wish you guys best. :-)

Love the Keywordluv plugin! It helps people get the backlinks they need to their webpages and help with traffic also! A great way to get people to contribute to your blog aswell! You can get a plugin called the Anti Spambot plugin that helps stop spamming! Thanks

Just starting my internet campaign was hard enough, but ever since I started using WordPress and such plug-ins, things are getting easier in the webmaster world. Comment & KeyworkLuv are great additions.
