If you want to make a serious impact on your business this year then first, you’ll need to face up to a few facts about how your customers find products and services:
FACT 1: There has been a huge shift in the way that people source products and services. Now, the first port of call for the vast majority of people looking for a product or service is online.
FACT 2: Web users use search engines to help them find companies and organisations that provide the products and services they need.
FACT 3: In the UK, 90% of all search engine queries are conducted via Google who carry out more than 2,893,150,600 search engine queries every day.
FACT 4: 90% of all clicks from Google search results will go to websites with a page one ranking.
CONCLUSION: If your website is not on page one of Google for a range of search terms related to your business, then it’s not working for you. It is likely that you are missing out on a large number of enquiries because potential customers do not know you exist. A highly visible website should significantly boost the number of enquiries you receive. And, because customers using the internet can find you rather than you chasing them, you will save time, money and valuable resources.

search engine traffic is the best as it converts more and advertisers pay more eCPM for the traffic, rank in first page or it is a waste of time!
I believe there is another stat which states the percentage of clicks a listing in the top three, however I’m not exactly sure what it is. Google is definitely powerful and first page rankings would be greatly beneficial to any business.
Hi, Tom. Indeed you are correct. Websites with a position 1 rank enjoy a click through rate (CTR) of 42%. 2nd position has a CTR of 12% and third position has a 9% CTR. It shows the enormous value that can be achieved by gaining a number one ranking for the right keywords.
I love the Stats for the UK. Our company is going live there in a couple of months so we are really trying to increase our SEO work…
Good luck with the UK launch – hope it proves a successful move!
It would be great to know the average CTR % the further down the organic results page you go. E.g. How many more visits would you receive being first against being third? I realise there are so many variables but is a rough number possible?
Hi Gerry, the statistics that we have available indicate the following Click Through Rates(CTR) for the top SERP positions:
#1 = 42%
#2 = 12%
#3 = 9%
#4 = 6%
All others = 31%
That’s fantastic, thank you. I actually assumed first place would reap greater rewards but that’s a huge difference between first and second.
Hi, I am Italian.
I have a question for you.
The price varies with the number of pages?
Thanks
Hi. The cost for SEO will vary depending on a variety of factors, including: the number of pages, competitiveness of keywords, number of keywords and the current state of your site. If you want a more detailed evaluation, then please email us with more information and an idea on the type of searches that you would like to rank well for.
Just found your site.
I was unaware of the clik through rate statistics.
My site started out at page 20, then slowly moved tp page 15 and after a lot of work jumped to page 7, crawled to page 4/5 after a lot of work and has not improved since.
Based on the statistics identified the value of a page 1 ranking is so important. More work to do!
